The Future of Indian Universities

Barbara Harriss-White

Oxford University Press

This chapter explores the conceptual and practical paving of knowledge and policy over the epistemological chasm and its effects on both littorals. In a method that is drawn from political economy and is historical and comparative, the author uses British evidence and debates to generate questions which may already have been widely rehearsed in India but which may still pose challenges that the Indian intelligentsia can negotiate more effectively than the intelligentsia of the former Imperial power.
