This chapter presents a biography of Howell Harris, who contributed to the success of the Welsh revival of the 1730s and 1740s. In A Brief Account of the Life of Howell Harris, posthumously published in 1791, Harris recounted his spiritual journey from the bondage of sin to a spiritual awakening. His conversion experience began with a conviction of his unworthiness to partake of communion at a Palm Sunday Anglican service in 1735. Since then, Harris made a concerted effort at improving himself through acts of charity, prayer, fasting, and reading devotional literature.
