This chapter presents excerpts from John Wesley's Free Grace. A Sermon Preach'd at Bristol (1739). Wesley's particular brand of Methodism initially coexisted with the Calvinistic form of Methodism, led by George Whitefield. As the movement grew, Wesley and Whitefield parted ways due to theological differences. In his sermon, Wesley argued that Calvinism as a theological system deterred a person from living a holy life.
