This chapter presents an oral history interview with Sister Vilma Seelaus, a Carmelite nun from Barrington, Rhode Island who spent her whole life in the monastery and honored the spirit of enclosure. The interview reveals Sister Vilma Seelaus's views on a variety of subjects ranging from theology to organic gardening, psychology, physics, and music. She has also written a book, Distractions in Prayer: Blessing or Curse? St. Teresa of Avila's Teaching in the Interior Castle, currently used as a textbook for teaching spiritual guidance.
