This chapter examines the progress made in international securities cooperation and the prospects of strengthening it even further in the wake of the financial crisis. It focuses on the initiatives taken by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). It analyses the multilateral approach to international enforcement in the securities field, incorporated into IOSCO's Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MmoU). It looks into the follow-up of the process by examining the initiatives that are being considered to bring more regulators into the network of signatories. The chapter also addresses possible future developments in global securities cooperation, emphasizing the broader trend to go beyond enforcement cooperation.
