This chapter discusses De topicis differentiis (On the Different Topics), a reference work on logic written by Boethius ca. 523. De topicis differentiis deals with topics related to dialectic and rhetoric. More specifically, it examines the dialectical method and its use of topics or ‘seats’ of arguments.
