This chapter considers the importance of organized studio procedures to the voice teacher. Actual voice teaching sometimes suffers in competition with the myriad things a voice teacher is expected to do. There is the off-campus professional performance schedule that must be kept going, or new music to be learned for the annual faculty recital, preparation for the course that has to be taught, committee duties to worry about, working up an important audition, prodding the agent who always needs to be nudged, and, with it all, giving one hundred percent to a full-time teaching schedule. Organized studio procedures can help relieve the overwhelmed feeling. Studio organization will save time and effort while allowing better delivery of the vocal pedagogy. The voice teacher should require every student to keep a permanent record book, dubbed the Technique Book, which should include pertinent information such as repertoire assignments.
