Motivation for becoming a teacher is examined more fully in terms of self, identity, and role in developing a vision for the teacher-self and the relation between self, context, and instructional practice. Next, the process of developing or evolving from pre-serivce teacher to experienced pedagogue and leader is examined. Finally, the dispositions and certification process required to become a practicing music teacher are covered.
