Arnold's success with Tomorrow Never Dies made him the automatic choice for the next Bond film, again starring Pierce Brosnan. Arnold again called on Don Black for lyrics, and he wrote two sets: one for the title song, performed by Garbage, another for the love theme (“Only Myself to Blame,” sung by Scott Walker) that didn't wind up in the film. As with Tomorrow Never Dies, Arnold relied on orchestrator-conductor Nicholas Dodd for assistance, along with London percussionist Pete Lockett for colorful ethnic sounds (the film is largely set in southwestern Asia).
