This chapter demonstrates how the CBD can work along with trade agreements. It shows how the success of the CBD is measured, and compares the CBD to the UPOV. It notes that the CBD provides access to genetic resources, while the UPOV protects innovative plant breeding. This chapter also discusses the role of the CBD in promoting TRIPS.
