Chapter Five describes the author’s own research on why young Latinas attempt suicide. Opening with the research objectives, the chapter goes into the measurements, methods, procedures, and analysis of the information collected from 122 Latinas who attempted suicide and some of their parents and from 110 Latinas who had never attempted suicide and some of their parents. Statistical findings are reported and the in-depth interviews are analyzed to provide a deeper understanding of the suicide attempts.
