The accounts in the material for this book are for the greater part about experiences connected with various types of Western music. There are also, however, a number of accounts of unforgettable encounters with unfamiliar music from other countries or cultures. As a rule, it is a question of first-time encounters that have occurred during journeys or stays in other countries. In some cases, they have also taken place on home ground in Sweden. First, this chapter presents a couple of accounts about music that individuals have come across in other parts of Europe.
