This chapter outlines the movement from mathematics towards astronomy by the Savilian Professors of Geometry during the 18th century. We also discuss the student experience towards the end of the century, with comments by Oxford undergraduates Robert Peel and William Ewart Gladstone, and note the changes in University examinations by the early 19th century. Particular notice is taken of the contributions of Savilian Professors Abraham Robertson and Stephen Rigaud.
