This chapter pays tribute to Alan Rodgers by going back to his early interest in neighbourhood law. It gives a brief historical and comparative overview of some of the key issues that have arisen between neighbours in respect of trees growing on or near the boundary of their properties. It covers tree ownership near boundaries and boundary trees; overhanging branches and their fruit; encroaching roots; and trees interfering with the neighbour's supply of sunlight.
