This chapter focuses on how the International Criminal Court (ICC) should deal with the peace vs justice controversy, using the Uganda situation as an example to illustrate the challenges faced by the ICC as it seeks to end impunity and ensure accountability for ‘the most serious crimes of concern to the international community as a whole’. It hopes to use this discussion to reflect on how the ICC can address these difficult issues, while retaining the integrity and credibility that are essential to any court of law.
