This chapter deals with long‐distance extraction of subjects in Bavarian, which violates the comp‐trace filter. It is argued that complementiser agreement licenses such extraction. In particular complementiser agreement allows subjects to be probed by higher functional heads. That is, agreement makes subjects visible for the computation. Objects, on the other hand, do not need to be in such an agreement relation, as selection by the verb render elements visible for probing once and for all.
