In this chapter the general theory of clarity and distinctness is further developed. The chapter explains how Descartes's method of analysis (for establishing the schema of clear and distinct ideas) looks to be an ancestor to the sort of constructional system developed by Rudolph Carnap in his Aufbau. Here, the chapter finally arrives at a rigorous statement of the systematic Cartesian concepts of clarity and distinctness, and how these connect to Descartes's concepts of intuition, deduction, and enumeration.
