The NHS Plan made patient information a key aspect of health care provision. The Plan made clear that providing appropriate information to service users was crucial to meeting the overriding goal of enabling patients to become joint decision makers in their care. This chapter discusses the benefits of well-produced patient information, the dangers of poorly produced patient information, the challenge of creating patient information, and NHS guidelines on patient information.
