Attracting, developing, motivating, and rewarding talent is a continuous and stretching process, but critical for the survival and growth of an organization. Human resource (HR) departments are central to this process. This chapter identifies five key areas which the NHS needs to take into consideration when engaging and finding ways of retaining key talent: (i) attracting and retaining talent; (ii) employing world class leaders; (iii) providing personal growth and professional development opportunities; (iv) succession planning; and (v) workforce data and information and its use.
