This chapter discusses community-based nutrition services and resources available for children and throughout the lifespan. In addition to medical insurance and services, the following programs are described: Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA); Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT); Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN); Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC); National School Lunch Program (NSLP); Supplemental Security Income (SSI); Head Start/Early Head Start; Family Voices; Healthy Start; National Healthy Start Association (NHSA); Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) Research Education Service; Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Other Disabilities (LEND), and Elderly Nutrition Program (ENP).
