This chapter deals with the management of the development, production, and marketing of electrical power systems. In considering the history of the electrical manufacturing industry, the aim is to outline general patterns of systems integration during different stages of the product life-cycle of electrical power systems. The chapter discusses how different degrees of complexity relating to organization, technology, and markets affect the capability needs of various forms of systems integration during different stages in the life cycle of electrical power systems manufacture.
