This chapter presents a list of some of the notable works of Colin Matthew such as The Gladstone Diaries and The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. It also includes books, articles, essays, lectures, other publications, articles and reviews in the Oxford Magazine, manuscripts, microfilms and sound archives. The Oxford Magazine is a journal distributed among senior members of the University of Oxford, and is concerned with matters of interest to the university community in general. It was relaunched in 1985 by Colin's friend and neighbour Prof. Jim Reed and Colin quickly began to write for it. In 1987 he started a regular column, ‘In Vacuo’, which would appear at the end of each vacation. These reflective pieces are of interest for a number of reasons. They were often about history, usually trying to relate matters of current university interest to events, issues, and parallel situations in the past.
