This chapter discusses some of the dictionaries that were used in the Renaissance lexicography. One of these is the Catholicon, which was a large monolingual Latin dictionary that had encyclopaedic features. This dictionary contained some proper names and explanations of words that were often extended well beyond their basic equivalents.
