A major challenge for epidemiology in the future is understanding the role of genetic risk factors and how genetic factors interact with environmental factors in causing disease. There is a clear need for all epidemiologists to understand how sequencing of the human genome and developments in genetic technology have increased the potential for investigation of genetic risk factors. This chapter presents an approach to teaching genetic epidemiology covering teaching objectives, teaching contents, teaching method and format, and assessing students' achievements.
