This chapter reviews an emergent approach to governing knowledge formation that is focused around organizing to discover valuable problems and efficiently searching for solutions. This review builds off of Nickerson and Zenger's (2004) problem finding and problem solving perspective (PFPS). After reviewing impediments to effective problem finding and discussing how firms must organize to match the attributes of problems they seek to solve, gaps in and future directions for research are discussed.
