This chapter examines the relation between motor and cognitive control. It explains the result of a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) study which reveals that there is no interaction between response modality and cognitive control-related manipulations, indicating that response modality has no influence on cognitive control. The finding also shows that no frontal area was differentially activated for the implementation of cognitive control with different response modalities and that the inferior frontal junction area is also response-modality independent.
