This chapter examines why staff support is considered a psychosocial issue in palliative care. It explains that staff support is a psychosocial issue because employers have a legal and moral responsibility to ensure the well-being of the people they employ. Staff well-being at work has an impact on quality of service, and health and social care services are a resource to the population served. Thus, staff support contributes to the social capital generated by the staff of a palliative care service for the community it serves.
