This chapter argues that there are two major problems for Social Trinitarianism. The first challenge it faces is to explain why its three Persons are ‘not three Gods, but one God’, and to do so without transparently misreading the Creed. The second task is to provide an account of monotheism which is both intuitively acceptable and lets Social Trinitarianism count as monotheist. More specifically, it argues that Social Trinitarianism compromises adequate doctrines of omniscience and omnipotence, and that it finally collapses into either incoherence or a version of polytheism referred as ‘Plantingean Arianism’.
