This chapter presents the findings of revisits to the areas covered by an earlier, (1982-85) comprehensive study of common property resources (CPRs) in the dry regions of India. The study reveals rural communities' increasing emphasis on units of CPRs rather than aggregates of different types of CPRs, reflecting their changed approach to management of CPRs. The chapter identifies the causes and consequences of this change and its implications for both research and policy aspects of CPR management.
