This chapter returns to Ian’s personal life. After a few years down south Ian met Brenda, who had contacted him for help with a website for those with visual impairment. They became friends, then more, and Ian invited Brenda to move in with him. When Stephen Duckworth decided to sell off the access side of Disability Matters, Ian and a colleague took it over as Access Matters. Ian built up the company but then found that he was working too hard and could not control the quality of audits from his employees—so he downsized, and he and Brenda moved again, this time to a single-story farmhouse in Dorset. There he continued his disability work and also developed a new hobby; rare turkeys. He and Brenda have built up Heritage Turkeys, and he has a sideline as a successful poultry journalist. Ian and Brenda married in the summer of 2013.
