This chapter discusses time reversal, starting from basic Newtonian mechanics and ending with quantum field theory. The chapter explains the meaning of time reversal in experimental physics, step by step, starting with the electromagnetic field, moving on to the charged Schrödinger equation for a spinless charged particle, then on to the Pauli equation for a non-relativistic charged particle with spin, and finally, the Dirac equation for a relativistic electron quantum field. Along the way the chapter discusses Wigner’s theorem and the use of antilinear operators to model time reversal. The chapter discusses the TCP theorem and recent empirical evidence, involving the elementary particles known as Kaons, that implies a breakdown of time-reversal symmetry in the laws of physics.

Keywords:   time reversal, electromagnetic field, Schrödinger equation, Pauli equation, Dirac equation, Wigner’s theorem, antilinear operators, TCP theorem, Kaons
