The introduction places the volume in the context of the history of economics and ethics and heralds the revival of the ethics of virtue as a new way to conceptualize moral issues within economics. It explains the organization of the book into three parts—approaches to virtue and economics, virtue and economics in theory, and virtue and economics in practice—and briefly summarizes the chapters within each of the three parts. The chapters reveal novel connections between scholars in the virtue tradition, ranging from Aristotle to Alasdair MacIntyre, and economic thought, theory, and methodology.
