The causes and results of infanticide, which occurs sporadically at Budongo, are described and discussed, with detailed descriptions of some infanticidal events. Adult males are the primary killers of infants but females also take part. In most but not all cases, the infants killed have been brought into the community by female immigrants and were in all probability sired outside the community.
