This chapter looks at a variation of the “harmonic function” introduced by Chevalley. It deals with a noncompact version of the theory described in Chapter 3 (which deals with a compact version). One biproduct of the book's theory is the first example of a noncompact harmonic decomposition. Another is a clear understanding of the Penrose transform.
