This chapter firstly summarizes the study's proposals for the regulation and enforcement of internal contracts though public law. The second part addresses the extent to which proposals based on experience in the NHS might be applied to other internal contract settings. The third part briefly examines the theoretical and empirical aspects of the study's relevance to government's contract with private parties. The chapter concludes by exploring the research agenda arising from this study which involves the testing of the generalization of its results, and refining and developing its approach.
