This chapter discusses the relations between considerations of care and justice in the context of women's exploitation. It argues that the principles of justice have an important place in an acceptable ethic of care and that the important distinction between the ethic of care and the ethic of right and justice is one of content rather than form. The chapter contends that Nel Noddings does not have any metatheoretical grounds for rejecting the principles of justice as part of an ethic of care, and that the particularist position that refuses to accept the possibility of general considerations as part of the practice and ethic of care is untenable.

Keywords:   care, justice, exploitation of women, ethic of care, Nel Noddings
