This chapter examines the relation and tension between Christianity and the liberal society. It highlights the partial and limited character of freedoms which liberalism can offer and suggests an account of the forces which govern and constrict its motions. It attempts to relate liberalism to the so-called turn of the subject which is connected with the rise of modernity and discusses the limits and dangers of liberalism from a theological point of view. Based on the analysis of the Christian theologians and philosopher's criticism on liberalism, this chapter concludes that there are no differences among liberals in the nature of their commitment to the various features of liberalism.
