Rules for the Hermitages in Aïr
This chapter discusses the rules followed by the hermitages in Aïr. The first of them is an act of repentance, where the servant of Allāh forsakes that thing which is no concern of his, in word, deed, or desire. The second rule is the washing, or the ritual ablution. The third rule is silence and stillness, so that the believer may attain truth and equity. The fourth rule is that the believer hearkens with his heart when he commences the dhikr, through the zealousness of his Shaykh. The fifth rule is that he should regard the sustenance which he draws from this Shayk as the drawing of sustenance from the Prophet.
