This chapter summarizes the preceding discussions, and presents some concluding thoughts from the author and directions for further research. The book emphasized the distinctiveness of the community policing approach in the primary research site, with its generous establishment, emphasis on crime control, and career advantages. It shows that although community policing does not routinely and generally deliver what is promised of it, under some circumstances and in certain respects, some community police do deliver.
