This introductory chapter first sets out the purpose of the book, which is to develop an adequate theory of properties, relations, and propositions (PRPs). It discusses two traditional conceptions of properties, relations, and propositions and outlines several desiderata guiding the development of this theory of qualities and concepts. An overview of the subsequent chapters is also presented.
