This chapter discusses the time when Prince Charles was forced to move from his original residence on the Isles of Scilly, after a large parliamentarian fleet surrounded the island. Thanks to the arrival of a sudden storm the fleet was forced to retreat, thus giving Charles the chance to flee to a stronger and more remote royalist sanctuary, which was in Jersey. The succeeding paragraphs provide an outline of Charles' journey to France until the death of his father, King Charles I.
