This chapter discusses prose fiction and its relation to rhetoric. Prose fiction previously had a minimalist definition as the telling of a story in prose and had no connection whatsoever to rhetoric. However, storytelling is a subject that is covered by the rhetorical theorists, and the discussion in this chapter looks at the supposed connection between prose fiction and rhetoric.
