This chapter examines twenty-nine prominent data sets, describing the survey design, the sample, the time period covered, key variables, representativeness of the data, whether the data is longitudinal or cross-sectional, types of data files included, accessibility of the data, and studies that have used the data. For select data sets, the chapter includes some SAS and Excel programming, where to find codebooks and other key information relating to the data, where to find the data, who to contact for sensitive data files, and what is often included in the contracts for sensitive data files.
