In this chapter, through the lens of organizational dynamics, how organizations tend to view and respond to the concerns and expectations of their employees or students is examined. The continuum of organizational responses from those that are purely self-protective at the expense of employees and members to those that include individual employee and member well-being as central to overall organizational well-being are discussed. The role of human resources, management, and other organizational support systems is evaluated in relation to members’ expressions of concern about mobbing and other forms of abuse. That safety is not assured because an organization has an anti-mobbing or anti-bullying policy is also discussed. Illustrations from workplace and school settings are used to provide the basis for understanding available organizational support systems, so that victims and their families will know what kinds of responses they can realistically expect from their organizations.
