This chapter describes a religious studies survey course on world religions that the author of this chapter has been teaching for a number of years in two different academic institutions. The course introduces students to some of the major world religions and investigates in particular how each of these deals with death and dying. The result has been twofold: not only are students given a good basis upon which to compare religious traditions seriously, but they are also provided with an opportunity to reflect upon and discuss their mortality together. The chapter explores these results theoretically and anecdotally.
