This chapter lets work on individual development accounts (IDAs) serve as an illustration of research to influence national and international policies concerning asset development. It discusses purposeful development of an idea along both the academic and applied fronts by building partnerships with legislatures and policy organizations, building work substantial enough to be a foundation for policy and practice, and being transparent in research shortcomings. Recommendations include convening policy and practice networks, engaging in policy advising and legislative testimony, refusing to be partisan, and going for scale.
