This chapter considers the major orthopedic diseases and associated conditions that older adults face, and the challenges they pose for them, their families, and the social workers and other health care professionals that work with them. It offers recommendations for social work practitioners who are likely to work with older adults with orthopedic diseases and who are at risk of falls, fractures, and joint replacements.
