A review of the book, Sephardi and Middle Eastern Jewries: History and Culture in the Modern Era by Harvey Goldberg (ed.) is presented. The book is based on a conference held in Israel in 1991 on the eve of the Persian Gulf War. It deals not only with Jews of Arab lands but also with Jews in Ottoman Turkey, the Balkans and Iran. It is not a textbook; rather, it is a compilation of multifaceted studies. Altogether there are eighteen chapters, two appendixes pertaining to population data, and a glossary.
