This chapter focuses on the role of pharmacists in promoting baby and child health. Mothers of young children are a major group of pharmacy customers who will ask pharmacists about many aspects of baby and child health. There are four main areas for advice: practical aspects, e.g., infant feeding; common and recurrent public health problems, e.g., head lice, threadworms; topical issues, e.g., latest research on child nutrition; and common misconceptions, e.g., that antibiotics are always needed in infections. Vaccination and immunization, infant feeding, general dietary advice, and case studies are discussed.
