This introductory chapter sets out the purpose of the book, which is to explore the movements unfolding between international humanitarian law (IHL) and international human rights law (IHRL). It then discusses the application of IHRL to armed conflicts and the taxonomy of the current scholarly discourse on the interaction between IHR and IHRL. An overview of the subsequent chapters is also presented.
